One of my favourite pieces of christian rhetoric is the loving saying that “God doesn’t give anyone more than they can handle.”
Sure….. that’s why no one, never, in the whole history of the world has committed suicide, or succumbed to alcoholism, or become a drug addict.
I think many people are given more than they can handle. Some people are able to muddle through it all with a mixture of chance, good friends and stark determindness to not give up. Some people unfortunately get caught up along the way. It’s a hard world out there and we all get by the best we can.
